Watching the news with the forced eviction of Israeli settlers in Gaza Strip, seeing little children chant "traitor" to the Jewish soldiers, and the young soldiers balling as more people die. One forced eviction, to compensate for a past forced eviction--to build more resentment--not peace---while praying my Daily Office this morning I came across these two prayers, one is the prayer for peace:
Almighty God our heavenly Father, guide the nations of the world into the way of justice and truth, and establish among them that peace which is the fruit of righteousness, that they may become the kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
and:
A Prayer Attributed to St. Francis
Lord, make us instruments of your peace. Where there is hatred, let us sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy. Grant that we may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
May our world, heal itself in God's loving embrace...

Ephes. 4:1-3 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, [2] with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, [3] being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Very timely, as today the last forced eviction took place. The pain in the world does need healing.
